Butte and Boujee
Updated: Nov 30, 2019
I have to start this post out with a shout out to my bestie, Riva (What Riva Wore), for making this part of our trip happen. The day we went to book the Placerville house, someone had snuck in and booked it for the first 2 nights of our trip! I was devastated, but Riva being Riva, pulled some strings and managed to get her incredibly gracious boss to let us stay at their home in Crested Butte and turned out trip into a dream come true. So a huge, heaping thanks to the Burke family and my girl for being the best travel buddy I could ask for and making my birthday spectacular!
Crested Butte - this place is at the top of my list as one of my favorites! We stayed high above the city with a breathtaking view of the entire place, about 9500 ft. Let's talk about these views for a second. I have never seen anything like it. I've been to Colorado three times before and was already smitten, but now I am full blown, head over heels in love. There's something about a snow capped mountain that really gets me going. We were lucky enough to be graced with gorgeous weather and spectacular sunsets.
While we were there, we had the opportunity to explore the city, and our timing couldn't have been better. We were in that sweet spot right between winter and summer peak seasons, and we heard that the locals were all in high spirits because they didn't have to deal with hoards of tourists. Being there in the slow season did mean a few of the local shops and restaurants weren't open, but the ones we stopped at were perfection and there was barely any people out and about - a bonus for someone who hates crowds, like myself. From the perfectly crafted espresso to the delectable brick oven pizza, down to the mini donuts - Crested Butte has got me by the taste buds.
When we weren't tooling around town, we were soaking up the sights and soaking ourselves in the hot tub! I'm perfectly content sipping prosecco and staring off at the mountains for hours on end. This is my happy place - when the real world stresses me out, I close my eyes and pretend I'm here. Literally right there. This trip was a dream come true. I should also note that this is not sponsored by La Marca, but it should be and I'm willing to negotiate! Second shout out to Riva for her shootin' skillz.
Our time in Crested Butte was simply a dream. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to see such a unique city from this perspective. Everyone we talked to was genuinely kind and all of our experiences were ones for the books - that's for sure.
