Picnic Perfection in the Park
Updated: Aug 22
My favorite part of blogging so far has definitely been collaborating - the opportunity to see the creative side of old friends and learn from so many new. My most recent photo-venture was with four inspired, talented beauties and a killer photographer, ultimately delivering the dreamiest boho picnic scene that I ever could've imagined.
With a keen eye and the patience of a saint, Brian Mattinson (Brian Mattinson Photography) worked actual magic behind the lens. It can't be easy dealing with five female bloggers at their most extra moment, but I think his snaps speak for themselves. Yeah, yeah, he nailed capturing the light and all that good stuff, but he perfectly portrayed the fun of our friendship and the delight that danced around us as the sun set. Bravo, my friend.
I've always enjoyed driving alongside the shores of Lake Michigan and have long admired the area just north of Bradford Beach, so I was thrilled when we decided to have our picnic there! Relics Vintage Rentals set the scene for us with the perfect summery boho furnishings. Lauren Henesy (Henesy House) wore a flower crown AND a set stylist crown, taking the reigns and making sure we were surrounded by soft florals and pretty patterns, transforming a summer picnic into a wicker wonderland! She even got her hands onto a two person tree swing - emojis can not describe the elation in that group message. Mei Mattinson (Colors of Mei), Gabrielle Loomis (Color Me Sassy), and Riva Treasure (What Riva Wore) all placed their personal touches on the set up, making it a fabulously eclectic mix of our unique personalities.
To top it off, literally, The Pink Peony LLC provided us with a sensational set of flower crowns. The moment I saw the wreath of greens with the colorful bunch of buds, I knew it had to be the one I wore. It complemented my outfit perfectly! I got this deep-v maxi as a steal online at Discovery Clothing - but the best part is that it's actually a romper! It may have gotten a little cheeky at times, but it's so much more functional than your typical slip slip-ups! For under $20, I got to show some sternum and feel absolutely freaking fabulous! The embroidery and rich color make this a must have, I can't wait to come up with another reason to wear it!
We sat in wicker thrones and on colorful poufs taking in the views Milwaukee's shoreline has to offer. The fireflies started to light up around us, the sun glowed orange as it dipped below the trees, and the waves beneath the sherbet skies hit the rocks again, and again. Moments like that make me so grateful that I picked up a pen, started my blog, and forged these new friendships.
So, long story short, a group of gals met up in Milwaukee, put their heads together, put a floral crown on 'em, and threw the prettiest picnic I've ever laid eyes on.
I now encourage you to get up out of your seat and give a round of applause to:
