Summer Concert Series - Summerfest
Updated: Aug 22, 2021
I finished out my Summer Concert Series with a few days at America's largest music festival. Right here in Milwaukee - Summerfest! We had planned to go three different days, but unforeseen circumstances kept us from attending the day I was anticipating the most - Third Eye Blind, and the incredibly talented Greta Van Fleet. I was so bummed, but at least we have tickets for their show at The Sylvee in October!
The days we were fortunate enough to attend totally lived up to my expectations. I've been wanting to see Imagine Dragons live for years, so when I heard they were opening the festival, I knew we had to go! Despite constant refreshing right when the box office opened, we got ourselves some bleacher seats - buying show tickets is so frustrating these days!! It didn't matter where we sat though - Dan Reynolds' voice exploded through the amphitheater and put on a spectacular show that blew me away. He earns extra points for going shirtless the entire concert - I could count every muscle from hundreds of feet away...hello!
The music of Imagine Dragons has always given me significant feels - it's powerful and moving, and my sister even walked down the aisle to On Top of the World - so hearing it live was totally a bucket list experience. When the fireworks went off as the band rocked on, you could feel everyone's joy reach another level. There, on he perfect Summer night with my husband by my side, we opened Summerfest with a dream show!
Two nights later, I was treated to tickets to see Logic and Halsey for my birthday by my best, Riva Treasure (What Riva Wore). Perfect. Gift. The heat index may have been in the 100's, but we put on a brave face and a big hat and headed to the grounds. Within a matter of minutes, we made some pals and managed to upgrade our tickets! I swear, this girl is a unicorn or made of four leaf clovers because something crazy or magically lucky happens just about every time we're in public!
I was really excited to hear Logic in action, live. Nothing gets me going like a good flow, and he's so g.d. talented!! He and Halsey were both so fun to watch perform because they were both very interactive with the audience. Anyone that has the crowd chanting, "F*ck you!" is alright in my book.
And then there was Halsey. Beautiful, soulful, open hearted Halsey. This was a total fan girl moment for me. I've admired how raw and powerful her performing is for so long, I was ecstatic to hear she sounded the same - better - live. In high waisted undie shorts that would've made me look like I was donning a diaper, she was a goddess on that scorcher of a Summer night. Thanks for the upgrade, randos!
I'm still salty that my Summerfest experience was cut short, but I've gotta say, the shows that I saw made up for ALL of the walking! Between these two shows, and Vance Joy at The Rave, I'd say my Summer Concert Series was one for the books!
Go!
